UNIBEN VC Agrees To Remove N20000 Late Payment Fee

The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has finally bowed to the demands of students after the protest organised on Tuesday.

UNIBEN had earlier announced that students who did not pay school fees within the stipulated time would have to pay extra charges and might have their studentship withdrawn.

The students on Tuesday protested against the N20,000 hike in their tuition.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin announced the immediate closure of the University following the protest.

In a statement issued by the Registrar of the institution on Wednesday, Ademola Bobola, Salami ordered all students to vacate their hostels and the University premises no later than noon on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the management has apologized to the students and order the reopening of campus.
