ASUU And FG Meeting Did Not End In Deadlock

ASUU And FG Meeting Did Not End In Deadlock says ASUU President.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has described the circulating news that Tuesday’s meeting with the Nigerian government ended in deadlock as untrue.

The union’s National Chairman, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, stated this on Wednesday morning in a telephone conversation with SaharaReporters.

ASUU And FG Meeting Did Not End In Deadlock

It had been reported widely that the Tuesday’s meeting between the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Federal Government again ended without an agreement.

However, Osodeke said the viral news on Tuesday night about the outcome of the union meeting with the government was “NOT TRUE.”

He, therefore, urged the public to wait for details of the meeting which would be contained in a press release that would be out soon.

The report also has it that ASUU NEC will meet by 7 pm today to decide on whether to suspend the strike or continue.

ASUU should be reminded that the ovation will not always remain at “loudest”. It will surely wane: voices will crack, hands will grow weak, even the drums will break. This is the time for them to quit the ring if they want to retain whatever respect remains for them from an increasingly sceptical public. Their “struggle” is far from being different from that of the men and women in the official chambers in Abuja, or the Aluta Continuas of this clime. None of them is altruistic; all are self-aggrandizing, only wearing different gabs in their quests to use their priviledged platforms to fleece this nation, mock the popular class, and get, as much as they can muster, of the reducing national cake, all because of the mental illusion that it is their turn.

This view reveals that some people are ignorant of ASUU’s struggle. It has nothing to do with personal aggrandizement or gain to the members. The honest situation is that the union is fighting for the classrooms, to which students return are built, refurbished, comfortable and maintained. Nothing less.

      THUMB UP FOR YOU.
WHY CAN’T ASUU SUE THE GOVT. FOR BREACH OF AGREEMENT? WHY CAN’T ASUU CRY TO THE NASS?

Do you think it’s that easy? Who owns the judges in this country? Can you tell me how many times the court has ruled against the federal government? Even the amount for damages that was sanctioned by the court for the FG to pay Sunday igboho, did they pay it? The United Nations ruled that to they should free Nnamdi kanu, have they done that? You think this FG has respect for the rule of law? Stoppage of salaries for striking lecturers, as stipulated in the constitution, is supposed to take effect after 90 days. The government stopped lecturers salaries after 2 weeks. Taking such issues to court will only elongate the strike action because it will drag for months, even more than a year.

Please, let the issue be resolved ones and for all without fair and Favour for the parties. Not halve solved one later another strike will follow. No please. In all indications we can all see is that the government is not sincere enough since their own kids school not in Nigeria.

Talking about sincerity of govt. Obj, Yar Adua and JEG were not sincere too? I think there is something we are not told either by ASUU or Govt.

The ASUU has good reasons to go on strike action but d fact remains that FGN can only give what she has. True or false those who have access to the National Treasury say the money is not available. Pls give d government benefits of doubt and call off d strike action. The nation belongs to all.

The cars they bought are worth 1.14 billion
Asuu requests for more that 1 trillion lol. And more so the govt has spent 2.5Trn through tetfund into the educational system
Asuu is ruining the educational system of Nigeria, As the main reason parents do not want their kids to school in any govt owned school is ASUU. I sent my child to covenant even though he got admission to unibadan
He wrote jamb in 2020 and would resume 300L later this year( His mates in Ui are yet to resume 100L)
